Susann Fletcher
has spent the last forty years appearing in a succession of Broadway shows, national tours and regional and stock performances.
She was last seen on Broadway and on tour with The Full Monty, winning rave reviews
for her portrayal of Georgie Bukatinsky. Immediately preceding that, she was on the road as Dolly Tate
in the First National Tour of Annie Get Your Gun. That performance garnered her a National
Broadway Theatre Award nomination. She has been seen on Broadway as Smitty in How to Succeed in
Business Without Really Trying, and as Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. She
created the role of Donna Douglas in the original Broadway company of The Goodbye Girl, starring Bernadette
Peters and Martin Short. She was an original company member of the Tony Award winning Jerome Robbins’
Broadway, where she recreated such classic roles as Miss Electra from Gypsy, Golde from Fiddler
on the Roof, The Timid Girl from the Charleston in Billion Dollar Baby and more. She
was an original company member of the ill fated Broadway production of Raggedy Ann. Her
first Broadway show was The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas in which she played Ruby Rae and closed the show
as Angel. Other national tours include How To Succeed…, Jerome Robbins’ Broadway,
My One and Only, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, Puttin’ on the Ritz and
more.
Ms. Fletcher had
the honor of playing Phyllis Diller’s daughter in a tour of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Other regional and stock credits include Miss Mona in Whorehouse, Gloria Thorpe in Damn Yankees,
Susan in Company, Anita in West Side Story, Bonnie in Anything
Goes, Shelia in A Chorus Line, Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray (Kevin
Kline Award nomination) and Gladys Bumps in Pal Joey
for which she received a Barrymore Award nomination. A
true triple threat, (actor, singer and dancer), Ms Fletcher has had the honor of working with the top creatives on Broadway,
including, Jerome Robbins, Neil Simon,
Jerry Zaks, Marvin Hamlisch, Stephen Sondheim, Jule Stein, Leonard Bernstein, Jack O'Brien, Tommy
Tune, Graciella Danielle, Michael Kidd, Pat Birch, Wayne Cilento, Jerry Mitchell, Thommie Walsh,Des McAnuff and more.
Susann has made guest appearances on The Producers, Kristin's
Christmas Past, Law and Order, All My Children, One Life to Live, Reading
Rainbow and Texas and had the lead role in the feature film Bloodsucking
Pharoahs in Pittsburgh, which has gained cult status within the slasher genre.
For several years, Ms Fletcher took
a sabbatical from performing to write A Girl Called Dusty, a new musical in two acts about
legendary pop singer, Dusty Springfield. It had it’s World Premiere at The Provincetown Repertory Theater,
garnering favorable reviews and sold out houses. It has been workshopped at the Florida Studio Theatre and in London,
UK and is currently optioned for future productions throughout the country.
In 2010, Susann relocated
to Los Angeles and hit the ground running. She played Georgette in the world premiere of South Street
at the Pasadena Playhouse, stood by for Michele Pawk in Los Otros at The Mark Taper Forum, a world premiere
musical created by Ellen Fitzhugh and Michael John LaChiusa and directed by Graciela Daniele She played opposite Al
Pacino and Christopher Walken in a new film comedy, Stand Up Guy, directed by Fisher Stevens and guest starred
in a Lifetime movie, Kristin's Christmas Past directed by Jim Fall. While she loved many aspects
of LA life, her primary focus has always been theatre, so she happily returned to NY in 2013. Since returning, she has performed in
a string of regional and stock productions including Martha Watson in White Christmas, at both Northern Stage Theatre and Ocean State Theatre. She was also seen as Hannah Ferguson in The Spitfire
Grill and The Ghost of Christmas Past in A Christmas Carol at Northern
Stage Theatre; Louise Segler in Always Patsy Cline at both Westchester Broadway Theatre and The Skinner
Barn Theatre, Aunt Eller in Oklahoma at Ogunquit Theatre, Miss Hannigan in Annie at
Westchester Broadway Theater, Molly Strutt in the World Premiere of Wednesday's Child, at Florida Studio
Theatre and Jeanette in The Full Monty at Capital Rep. Susann's play, Soft Spot, was selected for the 2014 Playwrights Festival at the Actor's
Studio in NY, with a full reading in September, 2014. Susann
completed her first screenplay, entitled Hopewell, in collaboration with David Jester, in 2016. She is
currently working on her third play, Severe Tire Damage.
When not performing or writing, Susann coaches,
teaches and mentors the next generation of artists. She
is originally from Richmond, Virginia and graduated from Longwood University.
